The Scholarship Program was created to address the staffing needs in critical shortage areas and to improve the delivery of service to New York City Public School students.  This program provides full tuition payments to eligible students enabling them to obtain New York State certification and to seek a rewarding career in education.  The program prepares participants to serve in the areas of Bilingual Special Education, Monolingual and Bilingual Speech Language Pathology/Audiology, Monolingual and Bilingual Visually Impaired, and Speech and Hearing Handicapped (undergraduate).

The scholarship program offers candidates who do not possess state certification a traditional path to a Bachelors and/or Master's degree and prepares participants to serve the New York City Public Schools as New York State Certified teachers.  Participating institutions of higher education are Adelphi University, Bank Street College, CUNY Brooklyn College, CUNY Hunter College, CUNY Lehman College, Dominican College, Hofstra University, Long Island University-Brooklyn, Long Island University-CW Post, Marymount Manhattan College, Mercy College, New York University, Pace University, St. John's University, SUNY Buffalo, Teachers College-Columbia University,  and  Touro College.
